In an internal memo, Musk asked Tesla employees to switch to Grok where feasible. The reason is that Grok 4.5 has lower token costs. He also asked engineers to email him directly with feedback.
This week, Tesla just limited the budget for employees' use of other AI tools to 200 dollars per person per week, while Grok is not restricted. Over the past few months, Tesla has been internally testing Grok, and SpaceXAI product lead Andrew Milich has also been helping troubleshoot issues.
Grok 4.5 was jointly released this week by SpaceXAI and Cursor, focusing on coding, engineering, and office tasks. The official price is 2 dollars per million tokens for input and 6 dollars for output.
